A collection of original Bauhaus notgeld (emergency money printed without legal tender) designed by Herbert Bayer is exhibited alongside a newspaper that contextualizes the appearance of notgeld amidst the Weimar republic’s hyperinflation. The newspaper documents the different, clashing iconographies of emergency money and the the role of figurative and abstract design in times of monetary devaluation.
